MATERIALS: 2 - 1.4 oz (or 40 g) balls of 3 ply worsted weight yarn. I used Phentex Vogue, color Pirates Gold. Hook - 4.00mm / G-6
Darning needle

The photo on the right is a pair of the mittens I just made for my 2 and half yr old granddaughter on Dec. 20, 2013. My grandson who I made the original mittens for is now 14 yrs old. For my granddaughter who is small for her age, I used a size 3.5 mm hook and Bernat Satin yarn, color "Florals".

trivoo.net SIZE: These instructions are for small - children age 2 to 4.
Suggestions:
For a medium size (children age 5 to 7), use 4 ply worsted weight yarn and a 4.00mm / G-6 hook.
For a large size (children age 8 to 10), use 4 ply worsted weight yarn and a 4.50mm hook.
For children ages 10+ try the Adult Pattern with a 4 ply worsted weight yarn and a 3.75mm / F-5 or 4.00mm / G-6 hook.
For extra small (9 to 24 mos), use 3 ply worsted weight yarn and a 3.00mm hook.
To be sure the mitten will fit before you complete the whole pattern, do the cuff first only. Try it around the child's wrist. If it fits, the rest of the pattern will be fine.
