I loved the mitten pattern at http://www.crochetandknitting.com/mittens.htm and made 11 of them to donate to a homeless shelter. Thanks for the easy and wonderful pattern!

Hey there, I don't have a question but wanted to thank you for the excellent write up on your patterns. Particularly your knitted socks. As I have just learnt how to knit 4 needle socks, your pattern was the best. Thank you again for all your hard work.

take care, Rose

Thank you for the knit cuff baby bootie pattern. It is easy to follow and a fast project. It is size adaptable and can be easily dressed-up with trims or by using contrast yarns.

FYI: I use the pattern for charity knitting for infants in need in the USA and in Peru. Your work has had a direct, positive impact.

  • Marlynn in Concord, NC

(Thank you, Marlynn! I think it's wonderful that you are knitting for charity for these infants! I'm also happy to know that my pattern is being put to good use and the little ones are wearing a design by me. It makes it all worthwhile! - Sue)

I love all of your patterns. I am not the greatest but you make it so easy for me to make such nice things. I have made your gloves for everyone in my childrens class for gifts. Made your socks for a ton of people. I even made then twice as long so that they reached my friends knees! I just wanted to drop you a line to let you know that I really appreciate you letting people like me print out your patterns for free.

Hello! I'm sitting here shivering my biscuits off (in minus 30-something celcius temps!) and have been desperately wanting a crocheted mitten pattern. Found a nice one on your site, and am going to try it out today. Found a few other patterns I really liked also, so thank you very much!

Warm, grateful smiles,

Sue, I just wanted to thank you for the use of your pattern “Easy Slipper for Beginners”.
I found it several years ago and started making them for seniors at an assisted living center where I was caring for one of the residents. I was given a bunch of yard and this was my way of getting rid of it and they loved them. The pattern is so simple I can make a pair in an evening.
I thought you might like to know it is being put to good use and I am not selling them. When someone sees a pair I am making and complements them. I give them the pair. You would be surprised to know there are a lot of your slippers running around the Phoenix area.

Again, Thank you for you pattern.

Hi Sue I made your crochet fingerless gloves and they turned out wonderful,, I HAVE BEEN CROCHETING AND KNITTING FOR OVER 50 YEARS AND your directions are wonderful,,

You really did a fantastic job creating these fingerless mittens

THANK YOU for the pattern GOD BLESS

  • Shirley

Your patterns are really easy to understand-- as a beginner I really struggle with slip stitching to the right place at the end of the row on other socks and mitten patterns I tried because of your single/ triple rounds I was able "line the bumps" up to make sure that I was on track-- it is also a great pattern for beginners because it offers such ease in counting rows. I get tons of complements on those mittens!

I have made about 30 pairs of your mittens -- family, friends and the mitten tree have benefited from you!

I did the baby socks-- but was struggling counting rows so the body of the sock I did the single triple series-- they turned out adorable---

Thanks,

  • Carole

Hi! Thank you for posting the free crochet patterns! I made my younger daughter the fingerless glove/mittens with the flaps as she had a thin pair that I had bought at the store and they wore out and were very ragged. I found your pattern and made her a pair, then her sister wanted a pair and then my daughter wanted me to make a pair for her friends for Christmas.
Now a year later they are begging for a second pair and I am making a pair for my older daughter's roommate, who commented on them how nice she though they were. My older daughter attends college at UW Madison and says she is so glad to have them as they leep her hands really warm.
So I wanted to pass on a thank you. Sincerely

  • Rose

I don't really have a question. I just wanted to thank you. I love this pattern as it is quick and easy and the mittens look great. And to my delight, there's a matching hat pattern. I have knit and crocheted mittens for my children for years and now they will only wear the mittens made from your pattern as they say the rest aren't warm enough and these are perfect.

  • Michelle (Michelle is talking about my crocheted children's mittens pattern, and my child's crocheted hat. Thanks, Michelle! - Sue)

~~~
I found your patterns through Ravelry.com and I made the fingerless glove/mittens (which I call glittens) and the brimmed newsboy style cap. All with just one skein of yarn! Its so hard to find patterns for crochet sometimes but yours are SO easy and fast. It took me about three days to make both things just in my free time. Thank God someone finally put free, easy, and fast patterns on the web!!!
THANKS!
I just wanted to say thank you for the wonderful free patterns. My husband has trouble with foot pain due to Diabetic complications (our hardwood floors don't help either...), and your padded slippers are the only thing that has given him any relief. He's tried inserts, diabetic socks, custom-made shoes, etc, and he still has pain.
Now he looks forward to coming home and getting into the comfy slippers I made for him. I'm so grateful to be able to do something to help him!
I am almost done making a pair for myself, and everyone at work thinks they're just the coolest thing. I'm passing around your website freely, so I hope I can bring you more site hits as a thank you. If I make more of these slippers for gifts or to sell, I will certainly include a tag providing your information as the designer.
If it would help you at all, please feel free to use any portion (except for contact info) on your web site as a testimonial.
Thank you again. I can't tell you how grateful I am to have stumbled upon your site! =D
Hi Sue,
I just wanted to tell you about my experience with your sneakers pattern! My son, Clark, has cerebral palsy and dystonia. He has not been able to wear shoes for over 2 years now, due to the deformities of his feet. Shoes rubbed really bad pressure sores on his feet that took forever to heal!
I've been putting him in socks with booties over them. Now mind you, he is in high school! The kids are really good with him; but, I always like to dress him like a big guy.
When I found your pattern, I was amazed and not at all sure I could make these. My crochet skills are limited. But, I was determined to make these!
So........I finished them yesterday and he wore them to school today! He was so excited and the teachers LOVE them!
One of the other guys that my son went to school with is now in a nursing home and wants a pair! Since I am so slow (it took me the better part of 3 days, almost non stop!) I did not promise; but, said I will someday. I need time to recover from such a delicate process! lol!
You are an angel to post your patterns and I am just now discovering all that you have to offer on your website.
Thank you,
  • Shari
I just wanted to tell you that I love your website and your patterns. I've been crocheting for about 25 years and there is still so much to learn. Your faq's is a big help for me and I can't wait to try some of your patterns. Keep up the great work.
I HAVE BEEN WANTING TO LEARN HOW TO CROCHET SOCKS FOR ABOUT THREE YEARS.
THE PATTERN BOOKS I BOUGHT HAD DIRECTIONS FOR RIGHT HANDERS AND SINCE I'M LEFT HANDED MY SOCKS DIDN'T TURN OUT THAT WELL. I PRINTED OUT YOUR PATTERN AND CREATED THE PERFECT PAIR OF SOCKS. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
Sue, Just wanted to pass on a note of THANK YOU for your wonderful site and patterns. I was sitting here tonight wondering what could I do with this sports weight yarn somehow I accumulated, 1 skein of each misc odd colors. Well your site solved that, I found the infant socks, amazing! It took me a little while to do because of the smaller thread and the fingers that just don't work like they did when I was in my mid-20's. I love them, first time I have made a pair of socks and will use this pattern and keep it for a long time for I have yet to become a grandmother. In the meantime the infant or smaller socks I make will find a good home with a charity, then to find that there is an adult pattern with 4ply yarn, I'm excited to do some of those too! Not only for the family, but again some for a charity organization. Thank you again for the work and talent you have.
I JUST WANTED TO SAY THANK YOU FOR YOUR SITE. I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR A CROCHET PATTERN TO MAKE MY HUSBAND SOME SLIPPERS AND I FOUND IT ON YOUR SITE AND NO WHERE ELSE. I HUSBAND HAS DIABETES SO HIS FEET ARE ALWAYS SWOLEN AND IT IS HARD FOR HIM TO FIND SOCKS TO FIT HIM AND HE KEPT ASKING ME TO CROCHET HIM SOME BOOTIES BY AS GOOD AS I AM AT CROCHETING I JUST COULD NOT DO THEM FREE HAND AND I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR A PATTERN TO FIT HIS FOOT AND WHEN I FOUND YOUR SITE HE WAS SO HAPPY THAT HE WILL NOW GET HIS SLIPPERS. LOL THANK YOU AGAIN FOR YOUR SITE AND I WILL VISIT IT OFTEN.
I am writing to express my gratitude to you for your free patterns. My sister recently asked me to crochet her some fingerless gloves/mittens. I looked all over the internet for a pattern and was unsuccessful in finding one until I hit your site. I made some for her and her kids. The pattern is beautifully written and the results were wonderful. I have also enjoyed your sock patterns.
I love the mitten pattern, it was the first article of clothing I had ever tried making and the clear instructions made it easy. Thank You for posting such wonderful work.
Just wanted to take a quick minute to say thank you for offering your patterns free. I have been searching for the perfect gift to make for my nephews, and just couldn't find anything, then I happened across your site, and found the crocheted Mittens/Fingerless Glove pattern. I just wanted to let you know that I love the patterns on this site. I've done the mens socks, the gloves, and the childrens mittens. I just printed off a pattern for fingerless gloves. The last three patterns I did turned out fabulously! I even used the glove pattern twice! Once for me out of cotton (I'm alergic to nylon) and once for my boyfriend with plain old Red Heart. Both turned out beautifully. I tried to make adult mittens based on the child mittens once, but they didn't exactly turn out the best. That's why I'm so excited about the fingerless mittens pattern! I just bought some great wool yarn to use and was looking for just such a pattern to use it on. I'll definitely keep coming back to this site for terrific patterns again and again!!!
I just wanted to write and thank you for a wonderful sock pattern. I have been looking all over for a pattern just like yours with the ribbed top. I have made my first pair in a heavy yarn and they turned out perfect. I now have a pair of socks to wear around the house. I am now copying the mens sock pattern because I want to make me a pair with the heal and toe a different color.
  • Samantha
~~~

I just wanted to commend you on your website. I made the crocheted gloves and the childrens crocheted mittens. The directions were simple and easy to follow. I made the crocheted gloves for my daughter. Since I was low on yarn and wanted to make them identical, I made the body of the glove one color and then did all the fingers in a different color. It turned out really cute and colorful. Thank you for inspiring that idea.

Thanks again,

  • Mrs. E.Watson

Thank You Sue, For the great patterns. I have made lots of crochet mittens and socks for christmas presents. They work up so fast. I just wanted to let you know that I used your pattern to make tons of christmas presents this year. All of my relatives get a warm snuggly pair of sock slippers. I love this pattern! Thanks so much for sharing it!

Dear Sue, As the founder of The Ships Project, which sends handmade items to deployed troops from the USA and Canada, when we can find an address for Canadian units, I have had a miserable time finding suitable crochet patterns for our volunteers. You do not have one adult pattern that wouldn't work wonderfully.

We will definitely be recommending them! In 10 mos., we've sent 20,749 handmade items to deployed troops, and I've never been happy with the crocheted things we've sent. Yours are wonderful!

Take care, Ellen

Great site. Just found it at about.com crochet page forum in a discussion about crochet socks. I recently ordered a book from annies attic How to Crochet Socks and am going to try it soon. Someone on the forum said that your instructions were easier especially in doing the heel. I put your site in my favorites so I can easily get it anytime I want. I just printed out your conversion chart for hooks that will come in very handy. There was a discussion there also bout the different hooks . Things I never realized. I will be visiting your site often.

Sue, Just wanted to pass on a note of THANK YOU for your wonderful site and patterns. I was sitting here tonight wondering what could I do with this sports weight yarn somehow I accumulated, 1 skein of each misc odd colors. Well your site solved that, I found the infant socks, amazing! It took me a little while to do because of the smaller thread and the fingers that just don't work like they did when I was in my mid-20's. I love them, first time I have made a pair of socks and will use this pattern and keep it for a long time for I have yet to become a grandmother. In the meantime the infant or smaller socks I make will find a good home with a charity, then to find that there is an adult pattern with 4ply yarn, I'm excited to do some of those too! Not only for the family, but again some for a charity organization. Thank you again for the work and talent you have.

I just wanted to let you know that I love the patterns on this site. I've done the mens socks, the gloves, and the childrens mittens. I just printed off a pattern for fingerless gloves. The last three patterns I did turned out fabulously! I even used the glove pattern twice! Once for me out of cotton (I'm alergic to nylon) and once for my boyfriend with plain old Red Heart. Both turned out beautifully. I tried to make adult mittens based on the child mittens once, but they didn't exactly turn out the best. That's why I'm so excited about the fingerless mittens pattern! I just bought some great wool yarn to use and was looking for just such a pattern to use it on. I'll definitely keep coming back to this site for terrific patterns again and again!!!

- Sue)

I found your patterns through Ravelry.com and I made the fingerless glove/mittens (which I call glittens) and the brimmed newsboy style cap. All with just one skein of yarn! Its so hard to find patterns for crochet sometimes but yours are SO easy and fast. It took me about three days to make both things just in my free time. Thank God someone finally put free, easy, and fast patterns on the web!!!

THANKS!

I just wanted to say thank you for the wonderful free patterns. My husband has trouble with foot pain due to Diabetic complications (our hardwood floors don't help either...), and your padded slippers are the only thing that has given him any relief. He's tried inserts, diabetic socks, custom-made shoes, etc, and he still has pain.
Now he looks forward to coming home and getting into the comfy slippers I made for him. I'm so grateful to be able to do something to help him!

I am almost done making a pair for myself, and everyone at work thinks they're just the coolest thing. I'm passing around your website freely, so I hope I can bring you more site hits as a thank you. If I make more of these slippers for gifts or to sell, I will certainly include a tag providing your information as the designer.

If it would help you at all, please feel free to use any portion (except for contact info) on your web site as a testimonial.

Thank you again. I can't tell you how grateful I am to have stumbled upon your site! =D

Hi Sue,

I just wanted to tell you about my experience with your sneakers pattern! My son, Clark, has cerebral palsy and dystonia. He has not been able to wear shoes for over 2 years now, due to the deformities of his feet. Shoes rubbed really bad pressure sores on his feet that took forever to heal!

I've been putting him in socks with booties over them. Now mind you, he is in high school! The kids are really good with him; but, I always like to dress him like a big guy.

When I found your pattern, I was amazed and not at all sure I could make these. My crochet skills are limited. But, I was determined to make these!

So........I finished them yesterday and he wore them to school today! He was so excited and the teachers LOVE them!

One of the other guys that my son went to school with is now in a nursing home and wants a pair! Since I am so slow (it took me the better part of 3 days, almost non stop!) I did not promise; but, said I will someday. I need time to recover from such a delicate process! lol!

You are an angel to post your patterns and I am just now discovering all that you have to offer on your website.

Thank you,

  • Shari

I cannot believe the number of people who wrote, even some who just wanted to know if your site really worked. I was honestly able to tell them YES!!! Thanks again and know that someone really appreciates the service you do.

Hi, I just wanted to tell you thank you for having this website. I love how easy you make this, it's so hard to find a good site for patterns when you're just starting out, I can actually understand these things. Thanks a million.

I received this nice email, but there was no name... and when I tried to reply it was returned to me as undeliverable, user unknown. "Hi, I just wanted to tell you thank you for having this website.
