He really does like my slippers. When we first got him he was only 2 months old and over the next couple of months he ate 2 pairs of my crocheted slippers. He is almost 8 months old now and has learned that I don't want him to eat my slippers anymore.
MATERIALS Yarn: 4 ply worsted weight yarn. Made with double strands. You hold two strands of the yarn together while working the pattern. For these slippers I used Red Heart Super Saver Aran and a small amount of black for the sole and trim at top of slipper. I had Red Heart Super Saver skeins, 198 g (7 oz,) here that I had used a small amount of the Aran and I had a lot left over after making these slippers. So I am not exactly sure about how much yarn is required. Hook: 6.00 mm (J hook)
Sometimes Red Heart Super Saver yarn, even though it's worsted weight, will be a little different in weight than maybe the last skein you bought. So be sure to check your gauge and go a hook size larger or smaller as needed.
GAUGE: 3 sc = 1 inch. 3 rows of sc = 1 inch
SIZE: These will fit a foot of 9 and 1/2 inches.

ss - slip stitch (the standard abbreviation is sl st, but I like to use "ss" as it's faster to type.)
sc - single crochet
dc - double crochet
2sctog - crochet 2 sc together
2dctog - crochet 2 dc together
Fpdc - front post double crochet
hdc - half double crochet
tog - together

The pattern for the body of the slipper is 1 dc, 1fpdc. On the next rounds you place fpdcs in the dcs of the previous round and dcs in the fpdcs of the previous round.
RND 1 - 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in next 9 chs, 1 hdc in next ch, 1 dc in next 6 chs, 2 dc in next ch, 5 dc in last ch. Working down the other side of the chain make 2dc in next ch, 1 dc in next 6 chs, 1 hdc in next ch, 1 sc in next 10 chs, ss to join to first sc. Do not turn. (44 sts)
RND 2 - Ch 1 and 1 sc in first st, 2 sc in next st, 1 sc in next 9 sts, 1 hdc in next st, 1 dc in next 9 sts, 2 dc in next 3 sts, 1 dc in next 9 sts, 1 hdc in next st, 1 sc in next 9 sts, 2 sc in next st, 1 sc in last st, ss to join to first sc. Do not turn. (50 sts)
RND 3 - Ch 1 and 1 sc in next st, 2 sc in next st, 1 sc in next 20 sts, 2 sc in next 7 sts, 1 sc in next 20 sts, 2 sc in next st, 1 sc last st, ss to join to first st, ch 1, TURN. (60 sts)
RND 4 - This round makes a turning ridge for the sides. Working through the back loops only, 1 sc in each st all around, pick up two strands of the color you are going to be using for the rest of the slipper, then ss to join. Do NOT turn. (60 sc)
You can do the whole slippers in one color or use whatever colors you want.
REST OF THE SLIPPER
The ch 2 does not count as a st in the Rnds.
RND 1 - Ch 2 *1 dc in each st around, ss to join, ch 2, do NOT turn. (60 sts)
first sc, 1 Fpdc in next sc*, continue in this pattern to end of round, ss to join to first dc (not the ch 2), ch 2, do not turn. (60 sts)
RND 2 - 1 Fpdc in first st, 1 dc in next st, continue in this pattern over the next 22 sts, 2 dctog 8 times, 1 Fpdc in first st, 1 dc in next st*, continue in this pattern over the next 22 sts, ss to join to first Fpdc (not the ch 2), ch 2, do not turn. (52 sts)
RND 3 - 1 dc in first st, 1 Fpdc in next st over the next 15 sts. 2dctog twice, 2sctog twice, through the back loops only 1 dc in next 6 sts, 2sctog twice, 2dctog twice, 1 Fpdc in next st, 1 dc in next st, 1 Fpdc in next st over the next 14 sts, ss to join to first dc (not the ch 2), ch 2, do not turn. (44 sts)
RND 4 - 1 Fpdc in first st, 1 dc in next st, over the next 15 sts, 2sctog twice, through the back loops only 1 dc in next 6 sts, 2sctog twice, 1 dc in next st, 1 Fpdc in next st, 1 dc in next st, over the next 14 sts, ss to join to first Fpdc (not the ch 2), ch 2, do not turn. (40 sts)
RND 5 - 1 dc in first st, 1 Fpdc in next st over the next 13 sts. 2sctog twice, through the back loops only 1 dc in next 6 sts, 2sctog twice, 1 Fpdc in next st, 1 dc in next st, 1 Fpdc in next st over the next 12 sts, ss to join to first dc (not the ch 2), ch 2, do not turn. (36 sts)
RND 6 - 1 Fpdc in first st, 1 dc in next st, over the next 11 sts, 2sctog twice, through the back loops only 1 dc in next 6 sts, 2sctog twice, 1 dc in next st, 1 Fpdc in next st, 1 dc in next st over the next 10 sts, ss to join to first dc (not the ch 2), ch 2, do not turn. (32 sts)
RND 7 - *1 dc in first st, 2dctog, *1 Fpdc in next st, 1 dc in next st, * over the next 8 sts. 2sctog, through the back loops only 1 dc in next 6 sts, 2sctog, 1 Fpdc in next st, 1 dc in next st, over the next 8 sts, 2dctog, 1 Fpdc in last st, ss to join to first st (not the ch 2), ch 1, do not turn.
