What Are Hobbys / Why Everyone Needs A Hobby

By GW

Hobbies can provide many hours of relief from stress. A hobby can boost creativity, self esteem, passion, pleasure, relaxation, and accomplishments. Hobbies are needed more than ever in this fast moving stressful world we live in today. One of the simplest means to reduce the effects of depression is to do something fun and enjoyable. Think about it, have you ever seen anyone enjoying an activity that they have a passion for and be depressed while engaged in that activity. No, of course not. Individuals who are involved with their hobby are happier people. Hobbies don`t have to evolve around just you, your hobbies can include family members and friends too.

Every person has some inborn talents in him or her, which they use to identify, develop and nurture to make their life fulfilling and meaningful. In short, it is left entirely to the person concerned to develop one’s talents and if they want, they can do it or otherwise the talents are wasted and gone down the drain.

There are many reasons why man needs a hobby which can be narrowed down mainly into two. Reason one is that we want to have some good quality time when we are alone. Reason two is that we want to have a good time with others. Simple right?

A hobby is something that a person can do not only as a fruitful past time, but it also a source of pleasure and relaxation. It helps nurturing one's love for a particular activity and also helps in polishing a person's natural talents and capabilities. Learning something new is healthy and always good for keeping the mind alert and active, as is maintaining a long-term interest in something that intrigues you.

Get started on your hobby! Go to list of hobbies and find one that fits your niche or interest. It can be a indoor or outdoor hobby, or a combination of both. Once you have decided which hobby best suits you in every way and you have bought or borrowed the equipment, clothing, tools and anything else you need, it is time to get it happening. Expect to start slowly at first, while learning, so have patience. You might even find a club to join and meet others with similar interests. This is a great way to make friends and to exchange ideas about your new hobby interest and find the camaraderie very inspiring.

For myself, when I get passionate about something, I’ll read up on it for hours on end. I’ll buy books and magazines. I’ll spend days on the Internet finding out more. There may be a few possibilities here for you … and all of them have great hobby possibilities and even possible career paths. Don’t close your mind to these topics. Look into them.

As our work days become increasingly stressful and demanding, and technology ensures that our bosses can reach us at all hours of the day and night; I think hobbies - particularly those that are creative in some way - are more important than ever.

Feeling that you are solely defined by your job — even if it is going well — can raise your chances of experiencing anxiety, depression and burnout, because you don’t have a perception of yourself outside of work. This where having a hobby can help immensely. Having a hobby will help get your mind off the strenuous every day routine of a job and give you something to look forward to.

A study showed mounting evidence that mentally stimulating activity such as reading, playing cards, board games and doing crossword puzzles may prevent or minimize memory loss from the aging population. The study compared exercise to mind building hobbies and found that mind building hobbies do more for preventing Alzheimer’s or dementia than walking. If this is the case, let’s play Monopoly, start the Chess or Euchre tournament before I lose my freekin mind.

Without any misconception or hesitation we know that hobbies are good for us. Hobbies can do wonders for our minds, our bodies and our souls. Some people including myself turn their hobbies into money making projects, it`s easy. So why not join the fun. Dive into a hobby and have a blast. It is good for you.
